Welcome, and thanks for visiting our site! We have some big news...

Thanks to the loving courage of her birth parents and their amazing families, a perfect baby girl was born Sunday, November 19th, and came home to us, her adoptive family, on November 20th. Rosalie Elizabeth is an absolute miracle, and as much as we wanted to be parents already, we find that we are even more dedicated to her because of the awesome trust her birth family has placed in us. We promised we'd never let them down, and we look forward to keeping that promise forever!

We are leaving this page in tact for the time being, as a sample for people who may be building their own. Our daughter's birth parents said this site was helpful to them even after they'd chosen us through our agency, allowing them to "introduce" us to family and friends. We hope it's helpful to you!

If you're reading this, chances are you're going through a difficult time, trying to make choices about your future and that of your child. As people who hope to become parents through adoption, we want to thank you for choosing life for your child, and for even considering adoption for him or her. It is a generous and loving decision, and one that takes a very special person to make.

We have been married for five years, and have spent that time building our nest -- creating the relationship, home and life that would best nurture a child. We are in our thirties, college educated and enjoy a close, loving relationship with both our families. The child we adopt will instantly become a cousin to Olivia, 2, Forrest, 6, and Daisy Grace, born Sept. 23, 2000. He or she will also inherit four of the most doting grandparents one can imagine!

We are waiting for our child's birth mother to come into our lives, and we're looking forward to getting to know her! We hope to have an open adoption -- one in which we will stay in contact with the birth mom and/or dad through letters, pictures and perhaps visits. We believe this would be a very healthy situation for everyone, but we also understand that some birth parents would rather not stay in contact. If this is our child's parents' wish, we will respect it.

We own our home, located in a darling Michigan village that is within an hour of two larger cities. We love our home so much, we spend a lot of time here. Rob's primary hobby is cooking, but he's also a cyclist who loves to read. Amy makes quilts, crochets and does other crafty things; she is also interested in writing fiction. Together we enjoy gardening, camping and entertaining friends. We are employed in jobs that allow us both financial security and flexibility, Rob as a teacher in a private high school and Amy at a public relations firm.

When we think about the things that will make us good parents, they include maturity, and the strength that has come from the struggles we've encountered, including infertility. We enjoyed our youth, our single and newlywed years, and are now very ready to devote ourselves to the nurture of a child. We cannot imagine a better purpose, or a better use of the next 20+ years of our lives.

Thank you again for considering adoption, and thanks for considering us. If you like what you see here, please contact us at Souper1@excite.com, or our adoption worker, Sara Forthun, at sarafccs@hotmail.com. We look forward to getting to know you! --Rob and Amy

Rob and Amy outside the home they love.

Nice to meet you! This is us, Rob and Amy, outside the Michigan home we love. On a quiet, tree-lined street and surrounded by flowers, it will be a great place for a child to grow up!

Please look around!

We've included some photos of ourselves, our home and family to help you get to know us better. Be sure to read our official homestudy summary, too!
